For the first time ever, 1 billion people used Facebook in a single day.
It’s hard to comprehend one billion people could take part in the same action in a single day. Has logging on to Facebook become a daily routine much like brushing your teeth or feeding the dog?
Co-founder and CEO of the world’s biggest social network, Mark Zuckerberg shared news of the milestone on his Facebook page last week. “On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their family and friends.”
This significant statistic is unparalleled in the online world. Facebook continues to be the most powerful social network with 1.49 billion monthly active users (MAU’s). Its closest rival is YouTube with 1 billion MAU’s.
The age old saying ‘go to where people are’ has never been more true when it comes to advertising online. Marketers are flocking to Facebook to launch their big campaigns, have a casual chit-chat with customers and post their latest product pics. It’s big business. Facebook has over 40 million active small business pages used to connect and grow their customer base.
So in the words of Mark Zuckerberg: “A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values.
Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together.”
