It’s likely that you have questions, concerns and complications in figuring out how to adjust your marketing strategy during a global pandemic.

Often in a crisis, a marketing budget is (often unwisely), the first thing to go. We recommend for you to hold onto it. When spent effectively, your marketing will quite possibly be what solidifies your brand during this time.

We’ve shared our golden tips on how to manage and adjust your marketing during this time, so you can come out on top.

Keep (or introduce):

Producing amazing content for Facebook and Instagram:

People want updates, entertainment and a sense of connection. Continue posting regularly on your social platforms, adjusting your messaging to be in line with the Government’s stay-at-home advice. If your brand’s service can’t run due to the current climate, focus on re-routing your content to include competitions, games and tips on how to adapt to activities from your home. When we come out of this, your business will be remembered for the efforts you made to keep your audience connected.

TikTok

The newcomer on the social media scene is taking off. Amongst the boredom of spending most hours at home, TikTok is providing a platform to share creativity, knowledge and memories with others all over the world. With engagement unlike any other social media platform, now is a great time to join and create a brand account. With the likes of Washington Post, Gymshark, Crocs and many more posting regularly, it’s already proven a success for many.

Facebook & LinkedIn Groups

People are fulfilling their need for human interaction and advice through Facebook and LinkedIn groups. Joining groups with people in similar financial positions, industries, locations and others are providing members with relief and a place to share their thoughts, worries, fears and hopes with those who understand. Providing your followers with a space for like-minded individuals to connect can create the opportunity for your audience to grow new relationships whilst reflecting onto your brand as a trustworthy and respectful place.

We’ve created a few Facebook groups for our clients to keep them connected during this physically disconnected time. In managing a group, we recommend creating weekly content to encourage discussion as you would with Instagram or Facebook.

 Replace:

Radio with webinars, podcasts or live streams.

With people spending less time in their cars getting out and about, there’s been a significant drop in radio traffic. For now, it’s wise to rearrange your media budget and shift your radio spend across to either producing webinars, podcasts or live streams – all of which are on the increase in this current climate. Webinars and live streams are a great way to have a more interactive teaching and learning experience, however podcasts can be organised ahead of time and scheduled.

Billboards with Facebook & Instagram ads.

Similar to radio, billboard visibility is expected to remain quite low due to a reduced number of cars on the road likely to drive by your advertisement. If you are in a position to divert your budget elsewhere, Facebook and Instagram advertising are a safer bet for a higher conversion rate. People have more time to spend online, so you can expect to reach more eyeballs with a well-targeted social ad compared to a billboard.

Where you can, we highly encourage for you to take the necessary steps to ensure your marketing continues during this time and you remain in your audience’s mind. Staying online and updating your customers on your business is extremely important and will cement their trust in you.
